Nachtmaar

Students Project

Nachtmaar - Blender / JangaFX

This project was created as part of my final work for the Media Design course, within a collaborative chain-reaction film where each video had to transition seamlessly into the next. Together, we chose a dark and unsettling atmosphere for our short film, which follows a boy trapped inside his own nightmare.
The story begins in a dark void where shadowy clouds slowly close in on him. After waking up in what seems to be his bedroom, he flees into the hallway, where he is chased by smoke-like horses. At the end of the hallway, he discovers himself sleeping in bed while his nightmares are being pulled away by the creature “Nachtmaar”, inspired by old nightmare mythology. As he witnesses this, he collapses back onto his mattress, allowing the film to loop seamlessly.

My responsibilities included creating the entire opening 3D environment in Blender, producing the smoke simulations in JangaFX, and creating the smoke horses as well as the final soul-sucking effect. During filming, I also worked as assistant director, coordinating shots and overseeing the production process on set.
